Descripción botánica
The trees are reported to be large, reaching heights of up to 40 m, with trunk diameters of 150 cm. The boles are cylindrical and straight, with steep buttresses up to 5 m tall.
Hábitat natural
Gyranthera micrantha is frequently found at 800 to 1,000 m of altitude in valleys and also in flat areas. It prefers fertile soils.
Distribución natural
This species occurs in Ecuador. It is reported to be especially abundant in the Zamora-Chinchipe and Pastaza areas.

Vessel clusters common. Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 200 micras or more (large). Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Occasionally apotracheal axial parenchyma diffuse and/or diffuse in aggregates. Axial parenchyma in continuous tangential lines (included in reticulate and scalariform). Rays less than 4 per mm (rare). Rays storied. Larger rays more than 4 seriate.
