DESCRIPCIÓN DEL ÁRBOL
Descripción botánica
The trees are reported to reach heights of 40 m, with trunk diameters ranging from 70 to 120 cm. They develop well-formed and cylindrical boles that are up to 20 m long or more.
Hábitat natural
Podocarpus rospigliosii is a gregarious species which occurs frequently in montane forests, at altitudes between 1,700 and 2,600 m in the northern part of South America. It prefers well drained soils.
Distribución natural
It is reported to be more common especially in vicinity of the Andes mountains in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú and Bolivia.

Descripción anatómica de la madera
Axcia parenchyma diffuse. Uniseriate, homegenus rays. 1-30 cells high. Crossfield pitting. Pinoid, 1-21/crossfield. Tracheids outline augular and/or round. Intertracheid pits: 1-2 rows. Helical thickenings in trachieds present.
