DESCRIPCIÓN DEL ÁRBOL

Descripción botánica

P. crenatum is often about 23 to 30 m in height, with a trunk diameter of about 30 to 35 cm. The boles are straight and cylindrical, 12 to 18 m long. It presents medium sized to well developed buttresses.

Hábitat natural

Protium crenatum is reported to be found in fairly homogeneous stands in the tropical dry forests of Venezuela.

Distribución natural

It is reported to be distributed from Venezuela and Colombia through Brazil and Paraguay.

Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 micras or less (very small). Occasionally tyloses common. Axial parenchyma absent or extremely rare, non visible with magnifying glass (8x). Axial parenchyma in marginal or in seemingly marginal bands. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric.
