DESCRIPCIÓN DEL ÁRBOL

Descripción botánica

The trees are reported to reach heights of up to 35 m, with trunk diameters of 70 cm. The boles are straight and cylindrical, up to 15 m long, occasionally hollow in the base. It presents buttresses up to 1.5 m tall.

Hábitat natural

Cabralea canjerana is found in the Amazon region in the submontane cerrado forests, it is reported up to 2,000 m of altitude.

Distribución natural

It is found in tropical South America.

Usos No-maderables

It is used for construction, in Ecuador it is used for plywood faces. Locally it is considered superior to Spanish Cedar (Cedrela sp.) in quality.

Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 200 micras or more (large). Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Axial parenchyma apparent with the naked eye. Occasionally axial parenchyma aliform. Axial parenchyma in thick bands. Rays more than 10 per mm (abundant). Septate fibers present.
