DESCRIPCIÓN DEL ÁRBOL

Descripción botánica

It is a large, majestic tree up to 50 m tall. The bole is up to 200 cm in diameter.

Hábitat natural

Dacrycarpus imbricatus is found scattered in rain forests from low elevation to about 3,000 m of altitude. It is a canopy or emergent tree in primary forests.

Distribución natural

It occurs in Thailand, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands and occasionally Sulawesi and island of Borneo.

Occasionally axial parenchyma apparent with the naked eye. Apotracheal axial parenchyma diffuse and/or diffuse in aggregates. 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Occasionally rays exclusively uniseriate.

Color

The sapwood is hardly distinct, somewhat lighter in color than the heartwood. The heartwood is pale light yellowish brown, darkening to light golden brown, slight greenish tinge.
