DESCRIPTION DE L'ARBRE
Description botanique
It is a small to medium size tree, with total heights of 24 m and diameters of 40 to 110 cm. The trunk is straight and cylindrical. The wood is reported to have a high content of tannins.
Habitat naturel
Schinopsis trees are distributed in South America in the area known as Gran Chaco. In some sites they can be a pioneer species. They are reported to reach maximum development in somewhat swampy areas. Some species of Schinopsis are Vulnerable(IBAMA,2001)
Répartition naturelle
South of Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and the North of Argentina.
Usages non ligneux
Dermatitis is reported to be induced in sensitive individuals by the contact with the branches, leaves or sawdust of this species.

Simple perforation plates. Occasionally multiple perforation plates. Intervessel pits medium, 7 to 10 micras. Rays 1 to 4 seriate. Septate fibers present.
