Descrição botânica
It is a fairly large tree up to 40 m tall, with a straight, cylindrical bole up to 80 cm in diameter.

Vessels in diagonal and/or radial pattern. Tyloses common. Vessels per mm2 5 to 20. Vessel-ray pits reticulate and/or foraminate. Simple perforation plates. Intervessel pits medium, 7 to 10 micras. Apotracheal axial parenchyma diffuse and/or diffuse in aggregates. Axial parenchyma reticulate. Prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells and/or in fibers. Body ray cells procumbent with over 4 rows of upright and/or square marginal cells (Kribs-I). Fibers with distinctly bordered pits.

The heartwood is pinkish-brown to reddish-brown and only moderately distinct from the lighter sapwood.
