The trees are reported to have commercial lengths of 14 m, with trunk diameters of 45 to 80 cm in the average.
Trattinnikia trees are distributed mostly in the Amazon basin. In Brazil the genus is reported in the Sao Paulo and Amazonas states.
Wood diffuse porous. Vessels solitary and in short radial multiples. Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 200 micras or more (large). Tyloses common. Occasionally vessels per mm2 less than 6. Simple perforation plates. Vessel-ray pits coarse throughout the ray Axial parenchyma absent or extremely rare, non visible with magnifying glass (8x). Occasionally siliceous bodies in the axial parenchyma. Rays less than 4 per mm (rare). Rays commonly 2 seriate. Silica bodies in upright and/or square ray cells. Silica bodies in the ray cells. Homogeneous rays and/or sub-homogeneous rays (all ray cells procumbent). Body ray cells procumbent with one row of uprigh Septate fibers present. Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.

The sapwood and heartwood are not clearly demarcated, the timber is light reddish brown in color.
