Botanical Description

The tree reaches a height of 23 m. The bole is straight, cylindrical and unbuttressed, with occasionally swellings on butt. Trunk diameter attains 70 to 80 cm.

Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Simple perforation plates. Vessel-ray pits sim Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Axial parenchyma in thick bands. Non-crystals in axial parenchyma cells. Crystal sand. 5 to 8 cells per parenchyma strand. Axial parenchyma bands under 4 per mm. 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Rays of two distinct sizes. Rays non-storied. Larger rays more than 4 seriate. Heterogeneous rays and/or multiseriate heterogeneous rays. Non-septate fibers. Fibers with distinctly bordered pits.
