Description Of The Tree

Botanical Description

It is a medium tree, it attains heights of 30 m, with a diameter at breast height between 60 to 80 cm. This species is reported to present steep buttresses in the first 2 m, sometimes with slightly fluted boles.

Natural Habitat

Guarea cartaguenya is found in primary forests, always under 1,300 m of altitude.

Natural Distribution

It is found in Colombia and Ecuador. In Ecuador it is reported to be common in the forests of Bucay area to the north.
