Anatomic Description Of Wood

Wood diffuse porous. Occasionally tangential diameter of vessel lumina 200 micras or more. Occasionally tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 micras or less. Colored deposits in heartwood vessels. Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Simple perforation plate Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Occasionally paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells and/or in fibers. Occasionally siliceous bodies in the axial parenchyma. 5 to 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Occasionally rays more than 10 per mm (abundant). Occasionally silica bodies in the ray cells. Homogeneous rays and/or sub-homogeneous rays (all ray cells procumbent).
