Description Of The Tree

Botanical Description

The tree reaches a height of 26 to 32 m. The bole is straight, and up to 15 m in length. The trunk diameter is 100 to 130 cm.

Prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells and/or in fibers. 3 to 4 cells per parenchyma strand. Axial parenchyma bands under 4 per mm. Rays less than 4 per mm (rare). Rays as wide or wider than the pores. Rays non-storied. Larger rays more than 4 seriate. Sheath cells. Occasionally prismatic crystals in the ray cells. Non-septate fibers.
