Botanical Description

It is a small or medium size tree.

Natural Habitat

Platymiscium trinitatis is reported in terra firme forests, growing on clayey soils.

Natural Distribution

In Brazil it is reported in the lower Amazon region and southern Bahia.

Wood diffuse porous. Vessels solitary and in short radial multiples. Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 150 to 200 micras (medium). Colored deposits in heartwood vessels. Occasionally white deposits in heartwood vessels. Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Si Axial parenchyma in marginal or in seemingly marginal bands. Axial parenchyma aliform. Axial parenchyma confluent. Occasionally axial parenchyma storied. Prismatic crystals in non-chambered axial parenchyma cells. Prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchy Rays more than 10 per mm (abundant). Occasionally rays and/or axial elements irregularly storied. Occasionally rays storied. Rays exclusively uniseriate. Homogeneous rays and/or sub-homogeneous rays (all ray cells procumbent). Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.
