Description Of The Tree

Botanical Description

It is a medium size tree, it attains heights of 25 m, with a diameter at breast height of 70 cm. Trees of this species are reported to have 5 to 9 well developed buttresses of 2 m tall or more.

Natural Habitat

Simira cordifolia grows in primary forests and also in intervened areas, from the sea level up to 1,000 m of altitude. It prefers humid and fertile soils.

Natural Distribution

This species is reported to occur in Ecuador and Peru, in the Amazonian forests and the Andes mountains.
