Wood Identification

Anatomic Description Of Wood

Wood diffuse porous. Vessels solitary and in short radial multiples. Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 to 150 micras (small). Occasionally vessels per mm2 more than 20. Simple perforation plates. Vessel-ray pits similar to intervessel pits in size and s Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Axial parenchyma lozenge-aliform. Occasionally axial parenchyma confluent. 3 to 4 cells per parenchyma strand. 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Occasionally larger rays more than 4 seriate. Occasionally prismatic crystals in the ray cells. Occasionally heterogeneous rays and/or multiseriate heterogeneous rays. Body ray cells procumbent with mostly 2 to 4 rows of upright Occasionally septate fibers present. Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.
