This species is reported to be a medium size tree with heights between 20 to 25 m. The diameter at breast height is commonly 60 cm in the average. Occasionally with small buttresses of 0.5 m long.
Vochysia leguiana is found in the tropical forests below 1,200 m of altitude. It prefers well drained soils.
Peru and Ecuador.
Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 200 micras or more (large). Tyloses common. Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Axial parenchyma aliform. Axial parenchyma confluent. Rays of two distinct sizes. Larger rays width 0. 1 mm or more and 2 mm or more in height.

The sapwood is not clearly differentiated, the heartwood is pink color.
The grain is frequently straight.
