Description Of The Tree

Botanical Description

It is an evergreen, small to fairly large tree up to 40 m tall. The bole is up to 100 cm in diameter, sometimes with buttresses.

Natural Habitat

It is common in primary rainforests, it occurs on hill slopes and ridges up to 2,700 m of altitude, but mostly found in a range between 1,000 to 2,000 m.

Non Timber Uses

The bark, fruits and leaves of this species are reported to contain alkaloids.
