It is an evergreen, medium-sized to fairly large tree up to 40 m tall. The bole is slender, cylindrical, branchless for up to 20 m, up to 60 cm in diameter, usually expanded at base or rarely with buttresses up to 1.5 m high.

Occasionally paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. 3 to 4 cells per parenchyma strand. 5 to 8 cells per parenchyma strand. 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Ray height more than 1 mm. Larger rays more than 4 seriate. Occasionally sheath cells. Occasionally body ray cells procumbent with over 4 rows of upright and/or square marginal cells (Kribs-I). Body ray cells procumbent with mostl Fibers very thick walled. Fibers with distinctly bordered pits.
Freshly cut material has a fragrant odor.
The heartwood is yellow-brown, sharply demarcated from the pale sapwood.
It has interlocked grain.
The texture is rather fine.
This wood presents a conspicuous ribbon figure on the radial face.
The wood is very durable, even in contact with the ground.
Ease of Drying: Air seasoning of Rengas is reported to be good with little degrade. Boards 15 mm thick require 2-3 months to air dry. Drying Defects: Slight checking and warping are reported.
Sawing of this species is reportedly fair to difficult.
Planing is reported to be easy.
