Vessels per mm2 6 to 10 (medium). Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 150 to 200 micras (medium). Vessels in radial multiples of 2 to 4. Occasionally white deposits in heartwood vessels. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Axial parenchyma confluent.

Tivi is a pale brown to pinkish-brown, lustrous timber. Color is streaky. The sapwood, variable in width, is difficult to distinguish from the heartwood.

Grain straight
Texture is intermediate to coarse .
Sapwood is susceptible to Lyctus attack. Prone to blue stain and termite. Heartwood is not durable and some form of preservative treatment is recommended for any permanent end uses. Sapwood and heartwood are highly resistant to pressure impregnation.

Sawing of green material is normal ,although surfaces are often fibrous and stringy. Sawn surfaces of air dry material are reasonable or only slightly fibrous.
Good peeling and drying properties, although staining may reduce yield of first grade veneer. Log supplies are restricted, but technically Tivi has good prospects for utility grade plywood.
